{bb} Paging/Mail in bb V1.08b won't work

I just spent the past two days upgrading from bb v1.08a to v1.08b. Since
then I cannot get bb to e-mail anything out. I made a few local
enhancements to the software, which we had in V1.08a, but it was modular
in nature, thus it should not affect how bb does things relating to
paging. Has anyone managed to get bb v1.08b working with e-mail sending
support. Is there something special that needs to be set in something
other than bbdef.sh and bbwarn.cfg for this to work?

In bbwarn.cfg I have:

*,,*,,*,*,nmetro@buckeyes.colorado.edu:0

and

unmatched*,,*,,*,*,*,nmetro@buckeyes.colorado.edu:0

In bbdef.sh I have:

PAGER="nmetro@buckeyes.colorado.edu"
MAIL="/usr/bin/mailx -s"
PAGETYPE="EVENT"    (also tried "RCPT")
PAGERDELAY=0        (also tried 5, 10, 15)
BBWARN=TRUE;
BBMASTER="nmetro@buckeyes.colorado.edu"
CFGDELIM=','

NOTE: 
All things related to KERMIT are commented out, as we don't have a modem
on the paging system, we just want to send e-mail.

Any ideas would be most welcome.
