{bb} Question on ssh testing

Whenever it 'pings' the ssh port, I get the following in my syslog:

Feb  2 17:06:41 legba sshd[28312]: log: Connection from 172.28.254.5 port 
4979
Feb  2 17:06:41 legba sshd[28312]: fatal: Bad protocol version
identification: quit 

Is there any way to suppress this? It wouldn't be much of a bother except
that we centrally log and it gets cluttered.
