I would suggest switching to name-based ping on 0.0.0.0 addresses only,
and keep the ip-based ping for the rest, since having correct connectivity
shown is a very large help in pinpointing the exact cause of the outage.
Having every single net test on every host go red because your dns dies
does not give you a lot of help in figuring out what the problem is,
as opposed to eg. if all your static hosts still have green conn columns,
that's a good indication that you shouldn't start debugging the routers.:)
