Brothers,
This IMHO is one of the BEST additions that you can add to your firewall.  
Implemented correctly, it can protect you from port scanners.  For those of 
you that use a cable modem, you know that there are "script kiddies" that just 
LOVE to port scan all of the computers that they can.  This program drops em 
like a brick!  Combine this with their logcheck program and the bb-hacker 
script and you get EXCELLENT notifications of attempted breakins!

After a lengthy beta period I'm pleased to announce PortSentry 1.0.

PortSentry is a real-time port scan detection and response software. In
addition to detecting all known port scan types, PortSentry can react and
block the attacking hosts from further aggressive activity. More

PortSentry has been updated from version 0.99.1 to version 1.0. The major
changes include:

- - Ignore file fixed. 
	
	PortSentry will now ignore hosts correctly.

- - Y2K Fix. 

	Now uses four digit dates when writing to log files. 

	This problem did not affect the operation of PortSentry, which is
	date independent, but may affect scripts and programs that parsed
	the history and blocked files of PortSentry.
