This shows that the problem is your bb-hosts file.

BB actually parses the information after the "#" sign, so the information on
the right hand of the "#" is signifigant.

That means the comments that you have below are probably confusing the
parser and making it ignore the servers on those lines.

The distribution file that came with your original BB download shows the
correct format for many of the options in the bb-hosts file. (Except, if it
hasn't been updated in the last 2-3 distributions, for the "dialup" option
for giving "blank" blinkies for systems that are subject to being shutdown
by users or exist across vast modem expanses...)

Check out http://bb4.com/bb/help/bb-hosts.html for very exact examples
of how to setup your bb-hosts file.

(I see that this has the "dialup" option now... so disregard my note from
above... ;)

Anyway the format comes down to:

xxx.yyy.zzz.abc fully.qualified.domain.name aliasX aliasY aliasZ #
bb-option bb-option bb-option bb-option

Any other format and you'll have errors and/or failures.

All the bb-hosts "bb-options" are described clearly in the web page, and in
your online documentation.

Cool?
