{bb} Cached files in BB and root directory

I am getting index.html.* files put in my /usr/local/bb and root (/)
directory.  They are cached files from our intranet.  Can you tell me what
script is dumping these files?

Also, a Conn status of red is showing even though the server can be pinged
from BB.
