to remove the ping test, modify bb-hosts file and add "noping" in the
service column. 
for example, 
10.0.0.111 hostname # noping http://www.whatever.com testip
and don't forget to clean up the logs(hostname.conn) and
histories(hostname.conn) under $BBHOME/www/logs and $BBHOME/www/hist.

My conn column is almost always purple after the first 30 minutes - I
think this is because ping is broken on redhat 6.1.
And so my question is how to disable the ping test and circular file the
conn column?  Its pretty much irrelevant anyway since if you are getting
results in the rest of the columns from the other hosts then obviously
you have a connection !
