{bb} Alternating red and green

I'm going bonkers from a service on my local lan that's alternating red
and green (name service). I have checked it when it was "red" and it was
fine. Other services on the machine (connection) are fine.

I've seen this happen on other services on other hosts, but I'm flummoxed
about how to fix it.

1) I'm only running one BBNET
2) Every host has the same bb-hosts file in the appropriate place.

Ideas?
