Its beginning to sink in now. Instead of using groups within BB (via
pg-), you setup a group within sendmail.
I did want to use a pg- group internal to BB, but it does not seem to
"like" having an e-mail alias in the group.
Thanks for you help. I understand now.

Uhm... I used a FQDN email?
I set up a sendmail alias on the same machine as what is my bb server,
so its was opspage@bigbrother.mydomain.com
And because I created a custom notification script called page, my rule
reads: *;hg-dev;*;;*;*;ext-page-opspage@bigbrother.mydomain.com:~10-120
It seems to want you to use pg-groupname like you are calling an
internal bb group, so if that's what you are intending, I would imagine
you need to use
ext-pg-groupname as the email.
Did that make sense, or perhaps I am misunderstanding your question?

I tried. However, BB seems to want a fully-qualified e-mail address.
This is what I received in our BBOUT log:
Wed Jun 2 17:15:52 2004 bbd bbpage Unknown recipient
<xxxx-pager> - it may need to be prefixed with pg- .
How did you overcome this?
Thanks...

Why not just set up regular sendmail aliases? That's what I did for all

Can you use an alias in a recipient group?
Can you use a recipient group with an external script?
Hey gang.
Have a working bb configuration and began working with groups today. I
have two questions.
First, can you use groups with external scripts? I was unable to get
this to work with the following in bbwarnrules:
*;;conn;;1-5;0700-2100;ext-pager-pg-operations .
By just using "pg-operations", the paging worked.
Second, can you reference mail aliases? I am trying to allow for more
message space and less recipient space in the acknowledgment area of the
bb2 page. I was unable to get this to work within bbwarnsetup:
pg-operations: xxxx-pager yyyy-pager .
>From the command line, I am able to successfully send e-mail to those
aliases.
Thanks...
Alan
