Re: {bb} snmp not returning info

Steve ,

First of all you already have a snmp test for your hosts (bb-xsnmp.pl). Why don't you insert new tests , adding the MIBs into bb-xsnmp.pl script??? when you are getting information using bb-xsnmp , seconds later bb-snmp will replace some data like CPU , etc...
For example copy the fan , power or ports Mibs from bb-snmp to bb-xsnmp , anything you want to test and bb-xsnmp not ready.

Subject: {bb} snmp not returning info

Please help!

I tried to install the Craigs_snmp.pl module but things are not working.

I added the bb-snmptab file in $BBHOME/etc

(example)

Cisco1_RTR_2610XM public cisco

I added the snmp directive after the # in /etc/bb-hosts

I added the snmp script into the $BBHOME/etc/bb-bbextab script.  It loads fine when I start BB.

BBOUT displays this:

Fri Jun 18 14:31:55 EDT 2004: Starting Big Brother...

        Starting Big Brother Daemon (bbd)...

        Starting Network tests (bb-network)...

        Starting Display process (bb-display)...

        Starting external scripts

                Starting external script bb-xsnmp.pl

                Starting external script snmp

Big Brother 1.9e started

Fri Jun 18 14:32:47 2004 snmp Exiting subroutine via next at /usr/local/bb1.9e-btf/ext/snmp line 417.

Fri Jun 18 14:33:32 2004 snmp Exiting subroutine via next at /usr/local/bb1.9e-btf/ext/snmp line 417.

I placed the BigBrother.pm module in the $BBHOME dir as stated in the text but am not sure if I am reading this correctly:

?For now, it needs to be placed in a directory available for your perl modules, most likely the BBHOME.?

Am I doing this wrong?  Is there some way I need to install this or incorporate it into Perl?

Snmpdir/ is located in the $BBHOME/ext directory.

If I run a manual ?snmpget ?c public Cisco1_RTR_2610XM sysDescr.0? everything returns fine.

All routers are reachable by host name.

Please help.

Thanks,

Steve Gingolaski
