Re: {bb} Setting up 2 BBDISPLAYs to monitor each other

If I assign BBDISPLAY on the bb-hosts on each server

ie:

server 1 bb-hosts:
- - - - -
10.0.0.1 bbdisplay.ny.domain.com # BBDISPLAY BBNET BBPAGE
10.1.0.1 bbdisplay.ca.domain.com # BBDISPLAY

page web Web Servers
group-compress
Web Servers

10.0.0.10 web01.ny.domain.com
- - - - -

server 2 bb-hosts:
- - - - -
10.1.0.1 bbdisplay.ca.domain.com # BBDISPLAY BBNET BBPAGE
10.0.0.1 bbdisplay.ny.domain.com # BBDISPLAY

page web Web Servers
group-compress
Web Servers

10.1.0.10 web01.ca.domain.com
- - - - -
I can get the "trends" (cpu, disk, etc) reported fine.. BUT

bb2.html shows alerts for clients of the other BBSERVER
So to explain using the above bb-hosts if web01.ca.domain.com has an error it shows up on the display of bbdisplay.ny.domain.com as well as bbdisplay.ca.domain.com (which is specified as BBDISPLAY in the bb-hosts on web01.ca.domain.com).

Without the "# BBDISPLAY" added they can only retrieve conn tests.. nothing else makes it back (which makes sense if you compare as client).

Thanks

Chris

problem is.. adding it to bb-hosts is fine.. I get PING (conn) to work.

to get actual trends (disk, cpu, etc) each bb-client would have a bb-hosts file with the correct BBDISPLAY.

so for each BBSERVER to send its information to the other they would each need to assign BBDISPLAY to themselves and the other (going by how clients are normally configured).

Without this I only get ping it doesn't get the other information because as a "client" neither server knows to send it to each other.

I'm going to assume you have 2 separate instances of BB running,
each with it's own set of bb-hosts files and a BBDISPLAY.

To have each instance monitor the "other" BBDISPLAY, just put
it's IP address and name in the bb-host file (without the
BBDISPLAY keyword) and it'll show up like any other host.
