RE: {bb} FW: Upgrade

There is a major difference that you may have already noticed between the two versions, namely the introduction of different client & server installs.  Outside of that, there shouldn't be any big gotcha's for the upgrade.  Of course, AFAIK the BB server will accept messages from older clients, so unless 1.9e has some functionality over 1.8 that you need, you may not have a pressing need to upgrade.

Subject: {bb} FW: Upgrade

Greeting fellow BigBrotherarians,

I am fairly new to BB, and have got several networks with 3 different BB's set up. However I was recently beset with the responsibility of all monitoring for infrastructure. I have only installed bb once. I installed the lastest version at the time bb1.9e. However the guy previously responsible had installed 1.8d4.

So I currently have two BB servers with 1.8d4 and one with 1.9e.

My question is simply:

Are there any major gotya's or tips that anyone can give me in planning and carrying out the upgrade from 1.8d4 to 1.9e.

I realise there are slightly different files and and certain configurable aspects are located in different files etc, so I guess I really just want to know if anyone has done this successfully and what steps you took for that glory!!

:)

Thanks in advance!

Fab
