RE: {bb} test if a BB client can telnet to another box on a specific TCP port

You will have to write a custom testing script for this, because you have to run the test on saturn. Check the appropite piece in the manuall about writing your own tests.

Hi Henrik,

Not sure I explained myself properly, here...

BB server = jupiter
BB client = saturn
other box = venus

I would like jupiter to display if saturn can telnet to venus on port
1234...

Cheers

Loris

The BB network tester will do this nicely. Say you have a service called
"flub" running on port 5162 on the host "blob"; to test this you must setup
an entry in bb-hosts

   10.1.2.3 blob # flub:5162:s

AND you must add the "flub" service to the BBNETSVCS setting, so that BB
knows it is a network test - to do that, edit
$BBHOME/etc/bbdef.sh and change the BBNETSVCS to include the word "flub".

The ":s" at the end of the bb-hosts entry means that BB will just connect to
the port, but not send anything - without the ":s", BB will send a "QUIT" to
the remote service.
