Hi, Jay,
bbdef-server.sh is ONLY in 1.9e. You have 1.9c, thus you will not find it - and don't need it. In fact, I don't believe there is anything else you must do in 1.9c after you move in the new binary. bbd should now accept enable (and disable) messages.
