RE: {bb} UPS monitoring

I’d love the scripts.  Thanks.  Can you zip them for me so my mail filter won’t kill them.

Actually, yes.  This is a very do-able thing.

First, figure out what data you want to monitor and find the SNMP OIDs for that information.  Actually, I found that to be the hardest part.

There was an UPS monitoring script posted here a few months back that provides an excellent start.  I took pieces from that and several other scripts and put togeather something in perl that I'm very happy with.

I've got an 'ups' column on my big brother web page.  Hitting the dot shows you a report that looks something like:

Server-UPS-2 - ups

green Fri Aug 6 15:50:43 EDT 2004

                       UPS Name : serverups2
                      UPS Model : SMART-UPS 3000 RM
                     UPS Status : onLine
                     UPS Charge : 100%
                       UPS Load : 37%
              Runtime Remaining : 33 minutes, 00.00
           Last Selftest Result : ok
             Last Selftest Date : 07/24/2004
       Last Runtime Calebration : ok
Last Runtime Calebration Date : 07/16/2004
Battery Due For Replacement : noBatteryNeedsReplacing

The individual lines are color coded as well as the page itself.

Let me know if you want the scripts.  They're for an APC ups, but they should not be hard to adapt.

Ted.

Is anybody successfully monitoring a network attached ups.  I have several powerware 5125 ups’ that are snmp enabled that I would like to get info from.  Is anyone doing this and what are they using to do it.  I really need to get something going on this, so If any has info, please let me know.

Thanks,
