Ok, you are right. This is what we do already for network tests. Our 
problem are tests that have to be executed on the client (Database 
checks, check of timestamps, etc.) be external scripts. I'll try an example:
Test A is a database check on "db-machine",
test B is a check of timestamps on "prod-machine".
Now the aliases db-machine and prod-machine (and others) might be 
located on the same server. But I can send messages to the server only 
as either db-machine or prod-machine.
