As a long-time Unix fanatic I am obviously biased - no doubt about
that.

However, I do believe it is fair to say that there are advantages in
running the BB server on Unix (solaris, linux, FreeBSD or whatever
flavour you prefer). 

The core functionality of BB - what you get when you install the
package you get from Quest or bb4.com - is the same. But the number of
enhancements, tweaks, add-ons etc. available for a Unix-BB
installation is much higher than what you'll find for a Windows BB
system. In part, this is because the Unix version of BB is shipped as
scripts that you can modify to your liking, whereas the Windows server
package is a non-modifiable binary program.
