{bb} Strange behavior with new client

I brought a new system online yesterday.  I copied BBCLT*.tar to the new 
system, unpacked it into /usr/local/bb, created a user bb with home 
directory /usr/local/bb, did bbconfig, make, make install, copied the 
etc/bb-hosts from the BBDISPLAY to the new server with the new server's entry 
added to the server already.  Copied bb-dftab, bb-msgtab, bb-proctab from the 
DIST versions and edited them.  Started the bbclient.

OK, 5 minutes later the new server shows up on the BBDISPLAY, with conn, info, 
and trends columns only.  I am getting notified of other tests via paging, 
but no status for them is showing up on the BBDISPLAY, even in bb2.html.  I'm 
at a loss what the trouble could be...
