BB can send SMS directly using a GSM modem or use Email-to-SMS.
If you wish to send/receive SMS on Linux/Unix, you can use SMS Server
Tools.
For Email-to-SMS gateway, you can try a few freewares from
http://freshmeat.net

For my case, I prefer to use GSM modem or GSM Phones attached to my
monitoring server. This is because email-to-SMS may not work if your
network is down. Also, you can attach multiple GSM modems for
redundancy.

Hi.. Sorry for asking again.  May I know whether is
there a must for Big Brother to let GSM modem to send
out SMS.  If I only have a pure Linux/Unix server, can
u send sms via the GSM modem?  What application should
we install on the Linux box in order to make GSM modem
to send out SMS ?  Can we convert the email (send
using postfix/sendmail) to SMS? I ask this because our
company is not using BB monitoring, they are using
Nagios, just want to make sure it works too.
