BB Unix Network Monitor - Message

Re: {bb} bbgen 3.1 available
Henrik,
bbproxy looks like a very useful tool. I wrote a much simpler version a
few months ago to pass BB messages through firewalls, but yours is
certainly much more capable.
Unfortunately we run multiple BB servers with failover, so we need to send
each message to multiple destinations, and bbproxy can only handle a
single destination as far as I can tell. Glancing at the source suggests
that adding that capability requires a detailed knowledge of the internal
workings of bbproxy which I don't have. Is there any possibility of adding
multiple destinations (i.e. specifying more than one server to which each
message is sent)?
The load distributing features of bbproxy are also interesting. We have a
large installation which is pushing the limits of BB on the servers we are
running it on and having particular problems when backups are running and
doing nasty things to the buffer cache. (As an aside, if you're running BB
on HP-UX11i then patch PHKL_30516 does marvellous things for your disk
throughput.) Would you suggest running bbd on a non-standard port and then
running bbproxy to forward all incoming messages on port 1984 to the port
bbd is listening on?
Kevin.
