RE: {bb} BB-Network Issue

The status page is saying everything is o.k.

Yes I have one server running all the BBDISPLAY, BBNET and BBPAGER.

What the other strange issue is that I have in the hosts file the
following:

"i.p. address" "servername" # ?ftp ?ssh ?smtp
So this mean do not monitor for ftp, ssh and smtp. Now I was place
into this bb admin after a co-worker was release and could there be any
other hidden things I need to look for? I'm still learning about bb.
I know that in all of the syslog.log file I get the following message: `
Bad Protocol version identification "Big-Brother-Monitor-1.9c" from
"server i.p. address" `

I'm just wonder what can I do because the last time this happen I remove
the bb from the servers and re-install it and for about two weeks it was
fine and now it happing again. I have remove it again and re-created
the clients and will roll them out. Just want to have this stop. I
don't know if when the original version was create there was problem and
I'm just seeing the affect of it now. Anyway any suggestion would be
appreciated.

Start by telling us what Big Brother says on the status page for the
services that are sending alerts. Do they report a red status ? If so,
what error message does the status page tell you ? It could be a bad
DNS, a slow network, or .... lots of other possibilities.

Do you have one server running all of BBDISPLAY, BBNET and BBPAGER ? Or
are there multiple servers for each of these tasks ? Have you tried
connecting to the services from the BBNET server - what happens if you
try that (a simple "telnet servername smtp") ?

No need to upgrade. 1.9c is not the latest & greatest, but close
enough that upgrading will not solve this problem.
