RE: {bb} paging delay

Tom,

There are couple of ways of doing this.

1.) Add an initial paging delay to the appropriate paging recipients. This
is outlined in the manual, though I don't have a section. basically you add
a ~delaytime to the end of you notification rule. for example if I had a
host called server1 and for this server I wanted to wait two polls before
the alert was sent the rule would look something like:
server1;;*;;*;*;me@mydomain.org~11

This will cause it to wait 11 minutes before paging. If the poll period is 5
minutes then this would be two poll periods, then on the third I would get
an alert. The console will still show red in this situation.

2.) If you are using bbgen and only want to delay one test for a period then
you can use the  badTEST option. This is defined in the bb-hosts man page
that is installed with bbgen. Example - You have a host called server1 and
you want to not get alerted straight away  and wait a few polls before
getting alerted if server1 is unreachable by ping. You would have a line
similar to as follows in you bb-hosts file.

1.2.3.4	server1	# badconn:1:2:3

This line would mean that when server1 had 1 ping failure it would turn
clear, after 2 it would go yellow and after 3 it would turn red. You can
also set time of day values around this as documented in the man page.

Hello,

Is there a way to set up bb to allow a number of cycles to occur before
paging begins?  IE: A CPU alert goes red, next cycle it goes green == dont
page  or  A CPU alert goes red, next cycle its still red == start paging
people?
