{bb} Surely a FAQ, but regarding escalation...
I'm familiar with the "99 Rule" for acknowledging and quiescing alert
notifications, however it would appear this rule only applies to standard
and "~" recipients.
My understanding of "~" delay is this:
*;;*;;*;*;recip1@foo.com:~0-15 recip2@foo.com:~30-15 recip3@foo.com:~60:15
event time+
00:00 recip1@foo.com gets alert
00:15 recip1@foo.com gets alert
00:30 recip1 and recip2 get alert
00:45 recip1 and recip2 get alert
01:00 recip1, recip2 and recip3 get alert
01:15 recip1, recip2 and recip3 get alert
At any point, any of the recipients can ack and squelch further alerts for
everyone else with the 99 rule.
With the "^" directive:
*;;*;;*;*;recip1@foo.com:^0-15 recip2@foo.com:^30-15 recip3@foo.com:^60:15
event time+
00:00 recip1@foo.com gets alert
00:15 recip1@foo.com gets alert
00:30 recip2@foo.com gets alert
00:45 recip2@foo.com gets alert
01:00 recip3@foo.com gets alert
01:15 recip3@foo.com gets alert
...
Only the recipient can ack their own alerts. Lame.
What I want to know is it possible to get "^" style alert escalation (once
it passes to the next person, the previous recipient stops getting
spammed), AND any person along that chain can acknowledge and squelch the
alerts for everyone else ("Hey, I finally checked my email, I've taken
ownership!").
Sounds like I want a hybrid of "^" escalation and "~" acknowledgement.
Is this possible?
thanks,
- liem
