Old? Over 5 years is a little more than old in this context. Don't
let the fact that BB is still on version "one point something" throw
you. Things have changed significantly.
Version 1.8b4 introduced a little script called "bbprune" to sift
out and compress the old historical data so that it can be backed-up
or even just deleted. I'd recommend that you get the current version
and look that script over. Even if you're unable to get it to run
on your version, it should provide you with the information
necessary to do a manual prune.
