RE: {bb} where can I find a "good" bbconfig for osf
Fernando, I reported this bug to this mailing list on 10/27 -- got no
response (except for someone telling me their much older dist works fine.
This dist works fine too, once you get it compiled. ;-) The problem is not
with bbconfig, but with bbmachine. There are two copies of bbmachine in the
dist -- one in the install directory and one in src/minimake. If you edit
src/minimake/bbmachine to return "osf" on your OSF host, the build will
complete. I have included a copy of my message of 10/27 below.

I'm in the install directory, and I run
./bbconfig osf
and it spits back
---> osf1 unsupported... configure manually
---> ./bbconfig [OS]
---> where OS is one of: bsdi bsdi4 sco3 sco freebsd solaris hpux9 hpux
linux sunos netbsd osf ultrix irix unixware unixware7 redhat aix dynix
debian dgux openbsd caldera mandrake sinix suse darwin
Presumably this is because install/bbmachine spits out "osf1" instead of the
documented "osf".
uname -a on this host (running Tru64 5.1B) returns
OSF1 jayna.westcoastbeauty.com V5.1 2650 alpha
For the sake of moving along, I edited install/bbmachine to spit out "osf"
instead. Continuing, bbconfig completes, but now the make in the src
subdirectory dies thusly:
# make
*** Can't make Makefile for osf1
Make: Cannot open minimake/makefile.osf1. Stop.
*** Exit 1
Stop.
Yep, you guessed it, src/minimake/bbmachine is a SEPARATE COPY OF THE
BBMACHINE script and it has the SAME BUG. Fix that and then it compiles.
(The server tree has the same bug, btw.)
