I wrote my SANS practical using RH 9.0,
with a 2.4 kernel.  I recompiled my kernel and never had an once of
trouble with it.  My system ran for 2 months with a small foot-print
and no problems what so ever.   If you are using RH 9.0 I believe
you need to recompile your kernel to avoid system problems.
