The failover script is part of the BB distribution - it should be in
$BBHOME/ext. This was part of bb1.9c and 1.9e -- I don't know just which
version it originated in. And I'm not sure how this impacts Windows
clients -- I don't currently have any (I've offered, but the Windows
support isn't interested).
Check the comments in the failover script . . .

Yes. What does the "failover" script do?
And furthermore, how would this work with Windows/NT BB clients
(specifying multiple BBDISPLAY/BBPAGER Hosts)?

This sounds good but where do I get the failover script?

Oliver -
I have a 'standby' BB setup that seems to work as planned.
On the standby system -- install BB as both client and server; get the
web
server and BB configured and talking to each other.
Once the basic config is up and running, add the 'failover' script to
the
bb-bbexttab on the failover machine only. Update the bb-hosts on all
client
machines to add BBDISPLAY and BBPAGER entries for the failover system as
well as the primary BB system. Replicate your production bb-hosts file
to
the failover system any time you make changes to it.
I have the same install on my failover as my primary (including larrd)
so
that the displays match.
And I'm sure there are other ways to set it up, but this worked for me.
At
one point I had an IBM rs/6000 (43P) running as failover for the primary
running on a Dell 4300 with SuSE 8.2.
