Hi,
I'm trying to setup BB to work with traps sent by some cisco products
(pix, cat 6500's, routers, etc).
Now I have it working in the sense when a device sends a trap, bb
recieves it, and logs it to BBDISPLAY.
However all the traps logged are completely unreadable and tell me
nothing (from big brother display):
system.sysUpTime.0 = 2:7
.iso.org.dod.internet.snmpV2.snmpModules.snmpMIB.snmpMIBObjects.snmpTrap
.snmpTrapOID.0 = enterprises.9.0.1
enterprises.9.2.9.3.1.1.66.1 = 5
tcp.tcpConnTable.tcpConnEntry.tcpConnState.10.100.1.1.23.10.3.1.33.44126
= synReceived
enterprises.9.2.6.1.1.5.10.100.1.1.23.10.3.1.33.44126 = 2912
enterprises.9.2.6.1.1.1.10.100.1.1.23.10.3.1.33.44126 = 111
enterprises.9.2.6.1.1.2.10.100.1.1.23.10.3.1.33.44126 = 405
enterprises.9.2.9.2.1.18.66 = ""
.iso.org.dod.internet.snmpV2.snmpModules.snmpCommunityMIB.snmpCommunityM
IBObjects.snmpTrapAddress.0 = 10.X.X.X
.iso.org.dod.internet.snmpV2.snmpModules.snmpCommunityMIB.snmpCommunityM
IBObjects.snmpTrapCommunity.0 = "XXXXXX"
.iso.org.dod.internet.snmpV2.snmpModules.snmpMIB.snmpMIBObjects.snmpTrap
.snmpTrapEnterprise.0 = enterprises.9
Here is the entry in /var/log/messages:
Nov 29 13:28:47 larry snmptrapd[28107]: Starting snmptrapd 4.2.5
Nov 29 13:30:02 larry snmptrapd[28107]: 10.100.1.1: Enterprise Specific
Trap (1) Uptime: ), enterprises.9.9.43.1.1.6.1.3.44 = 1,
enterprises.9.9.43.1.1.6.1.4.44 = 2, enterprises.9.9.43.1.1.6.1.5.44 = 3
Here's how I start snmptrapd (UCD-snmp v4.2.5):
echo "Starting snmptrapd"
MIBDIR=$BBHOME/MIB/
export MIBDIR
sudo /usr/sbin/snmptrapd -c
/usr/share/snmp/snmpconf/snmptrapd.conf/traphandle -M $MIBDIR (just in
case)
Snmptrapd.conf/traphandle:
traphandle default /opt/bb/bb/ext/bbtrap.sh UCD
I copied a ton of Cisco MIB's into the $BBHOME/MIB directory, but it
doesn't seem to work. Should I copy all the OID files into that
directory too? I used the snmptrapd -Dall flag and it reads all of the
MIB's without error.
I'm really confused on how snmptrapd should translate these traps so I
can actually see messages like "link down" or "user exited enable mode"
or whatever. I can't really find any resource that tells me how to
configure the MIB's, if they should be all be in one directory, what
extension they have, etc.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Pat
