Brothers and Sisters,
I know that this may have been asked here before, but please bear with
me, as I can't seem to find it in the list archives.
One of the biggest problems I have with BB is the lack of file
management on the server itself. The things that are of interest to
me now involve notification, recovery, and paging logs. Basically,
there seems to be now way to correlate the three of these. The
notifications log has two numbers in it. One seems to correlate to
the np_* files in $BBHOME/tmp, but the other doesn't seem to correlate
to anything in the recoveries log. Thus, I can correlate a
notification log entry to the np_* file, but I cannot correlate a
recovery log to either the np_* file or the notifications log entry.
My question basically boils down to this: Is there a way to know
which of the np_* files is still relevant, or can I simply assume that
any file over PAGEDELAY old is not valid? I'd like to keep an eye on
these things. I'd also like to clean up the np_* files daily, but not
remove any that are still 'active'.
I'm looking into the combo.* messages as well, but I know that those
are leftovers from ext scripts that I'm running, so it shouldn't be
overly difficult to add logic into the script(s) to remove them after
successful submission to BB.
Thanks for any insight you can provide into this matter.
Regards,
Ben Pitzer
