If bbgen is not an option maybe you can run a perl script? -> mkbb-0.15.tar.gz (on deadcat)

By default, BB uses a shell script to generate html pages.  As your server count increases this script just can't handle it.

I used (and maintained) the perl script mentioned above to speed things up again, until bbgen came along and overtook the functionality.
