RE: {bb} The bb_rename error problem

As I mentioned in my original email, I have checked the list archives fo
rinformation on this problem and verified the integrity of the BB-HOSTS
file on every server. I do not have any relays in my environment,
either.

The problem is NOT caused by the problems you listed below. The problem
I am experiencing IS caused by high I/O load in the BB Server and poor
filesystem error handling by BBD. I am looking for a way to improve the
handling of I/O errors encountered by BBD as it updates the logs, hist,
and histlogs in BBVAR so that no status message is ever missed.

Please carefully read the entirety of a posted email before jumping onto
the same old conclusions available in the archives.

Actually, AFAIK, this error was ALWAYS caused by having the
BBDISPLAY/BBPAGER listed multiple times in the (client/bbnet) bb-hosts
file

As someone else mentioned, also look at your bbrelays, or any other
method of causing the same host to report the same machine.test more
than once.

Look at the testname in the error message, and see if it only happens to
reports from certain clients, or from the bbnet, etc... Then look in
that bb-hosts file.

Also, since the doc's tell you to keep bb-hosts the same everywhere, you
might see this from EVERY client/test, so just check there as well.

If all else fails, send the output of:
egrep BBNET\|BBPAGER\|BBDISPLAY\|BBRELAY bb-hosts to the list

Do that on whatever machine you saw the error message with the report
from.

Regards,
Adam
