{bb} BBD problem starting / Debug

Hi,

Our BB server (1.9e) stopped working yesterday after removing a line
from bb-hosts file and then removing the offending bbvar/hist/host,
bbvar/histlogs/host and bbvar/logs/host files to stop purple
notifications, I then also added some further email recipients to get
notifications, then restarted and noticed that bbd did not actually run.

All the etc/bbchk*.sh commands run OK with no bad output.

But to role back I removed the email recipient lines from
etc/bbwarnrules.cfg and tried to start again, but nothing.

BBOUT shows:

Fri Feb 11 15:10:16 GMT 2005: Starting Big Brother...
Big Brother 1.9e started

but "ps -ef | grep bbd" shows nothing

port 1984 is not in use by anything else, and I'm running out of ideas -
apart from re-installing and building the config back up to how it is
now to locate the problem.

The only other option i have is to enable debugging within bbd, but
having problems doing that - some notes suggest editing src/Makefile
some suggest editing bbpage.c

Any pointers, greatly received.

Luke.
