Now it works.

Probably it was something wrong with my perl. I downgraded to 5.8.0 and now
it works. I have a working BB-installation (with bbgen) at work on HP-UX
11.0. Now I'm loosing my job so I got an obsolete HP-server (D380) at home
where I'm now tried to make a new and fresh installation.

But I had to get some things from the box at work.

Next step is to backup the working BB installation and have alook at Hobbit.

I don't believe your perl is too new...I've used it with 5.8.5 with no 
issues.  The error you are seeing is a linking error.  You may want to 
compile rrdtool yourself with GCC.  Perl modules and perl both need to 
be built with the same compiler or you may see strange issues.  The perl 
that comes with HP is generally Active State perl which I've had issues 
with in the past but if you have 5.8.6 I don't know if it was from there 
or one of the depot sites.
