{bb} Re: How to use the same BBDISPLAY for internal AND external servers?
Actually, it probably helps to show an example here. Here's what my
bb-hosts file would look like, and 216.50.50.50 and 10.0.0.1 are the same
machine, with two different IP addresses.
216.50.50.50 web01.mydomain.com # BBDISPLAY BBPAGER BBNET
http://www.mydomain.com smtp dig
64.50.50.50 web01.otherdomain.com # http://www.otherdomain.com smtp
dig
group internal
10.0.0.1 web01.mydomain # testip pop3
10.0.0.2 app01.mydomain # testip tomcat:8009:s
10.0.0.3 db01.mydomain # testip
I would like for the 10.x.x.x servers to connect to web01.mydomain.com at
10.0.0.1. And, I'd like for the 64.50.50.50 to connect to
web01.mydomain.com at 216.50.50.50. Right now the 10.x.x.x servers can't
connect.
Also, I have FQDN set to true. I tried putting BBDISPLAY BBPAGER BBNET
also on the 10.0.0.1 entry instead of the 216.50.50.50. This allowed the
10.x.x.x servers to connect to BBDISPLAY, but I kept getting Unknown Host
errors for web01.mydomain. Obviously, this is because it's not a real
hostname... but I was under the impression that I needed unique hostnames
for each entry in order to allow the tests to occur on the right IP
addresses. (pop3 is available on 10.0.0.1 and not on 216.50.50.50.) Any
way to get around the Unknown Host errors?
Thank you,

Subject: How to use the same BBDISPLAY for internal AND external servers?
Hello,
I have BB up and running, and it works fantastically. However, I'm trying
to optimize my connections, with the BBDISPLAY being multi-homed.
The server that is the BBDISPLAY has an internal 10.x.x.x IP address and
an external 216.x.x.x IP address.
Almost all of the bbclients are on the internal 10.x.x.x network, and I'd
like them to connect to the BBDISPLAY that way.
However, how can I do this, and still let the one or two outside servers
that are not connected to the internal network also connect to the
BBDISPLAY over the 216.x.x.x IP address.
I have read through the archives, and I understand that it's best to have
the same bb-hosts file on each client. However, for this case, it would
seem like the outside servers need to be told that the BBDISPLAY is the
216.x.x.x IP address, and the internal servers need to be told that the
BBDISPLAY is the 10.x.x.x IP address.
Any help is much appreciated!
Thank you,
-Raiden Johnson
