{bb} RE:Problems with Solaris 8 install

Hello all,

Thanks for the assistance. Found the problem. Asa Joe said, the GNU version
of strip corrupts ELF binaries on Solaris 8. I removed /usr/local/bin/strip
so the Solaris one was used instead and all became good.

Hello all,

I have installed bb before with no problems, however on my latest install I
am having some issues.

I am running Solaris 8 on Sun hardware.

BB compiles and makes succesfully, however, when I try to start the bb
daemon I get the error message 'bbd: Cannot find ELF'.

I have compiled with both cc and gcc to see if that makes a difference. I
have also made sure /usr/ucb is first in the path. I have also tried
googling to see if anyone else is having the problem.

I'm pretty much at a loss now so any help would be appreciated.
