Are you using BBGen maybe though? Someone said earlier that does a
different check. I'll have to poke through my logs in the morning. I
didn't expect it to attempt to login, but I thought it might attempt to
hold the socket open a few seconds or something, so that the immediate
closing of it would turn the check red. *shrug*

Turn on SSH checking, and then check your logs..
Apr 13 23:14:34 balrog sshd[12026]: Bad protocol version identification
'Big-Brother-Monitor-1.8d4' from 10.5.100.96
At least with BB 1.8d4 (I know its old, but it works and I'm lazy), it
connects and sends the above string.
