{bb} Getting purples

ver. bb1.9c
When modifying the bb-hosts file i 'su' to user bb and do 'sh runbb.sh
restart' each time to make BB reload bb-hosts.
But sometimes (maybe when it complains about rougee processes ) after a
'runbb.sh restart' - many of the monitored servers turn up purple and I
have to restart the whole server to get rid of the purples..
Is this a known problem?
Is there a fix?
