Thank you for clarifying! The documentation was not totally about the
usage.

Kim -
This won't work the way you are hoping, at least from what I've seen.
When the error condition happens, a alert number is assigned for problem
even though it doesn't notify anyone. In your example, you would end up
with something like:
Pager1: 6810010
Pager2: 6810011
After 5 minutes (~5), it says, oh.. Pager1 now wants to be notified, but
Pager2 doesn't and assigns a new ACK code, but only for Pager1. And
then the first notification is sent to Pager1:
Pager1: 8098510
Pager2: 6810011
So even if the 8098599 is used, it won't acknowledge the Pager2 code.
You would have to also use 6810011 to stop notifications to Pager2.
If you look in the $BBHOME/tmp/np_* files, you can see the
Acknowledgement codes. Anytime you see a code with seven zeros after
the 7 digit number, I believe that is an alert which has an delay (~60)
on it and hasn't yet sent any notifications to this person.
If I'm wrong about this, I would love to have more details, since I've
been struggling with notifications in BB.

I never saw a reply to this. Is it possible to make two alerts like:
Machine.domain.net;;*;;*;*;pager1@domain.net:~5-2880
Machine.domain.net;;*;;*;*;pager2@domain.net:~60-2880
Or will one override the other? Because in theory, once it's ACKd for
all users XXXXX99 it would not get to the second warning after 60
minutes? However, if person with pager1 only ACKd it with his code,
pager2 would still get notified.
There is an escalation code, defined with ^ instead of ~ but I don't
entirely understand how it works.

Subject: {bb} Escalation of Alerts
Hello all -
We've got a new 24-hour support system set up. I've got a new Blackberry
which will be receiving all the incoming alerts for Big Brother. The
person on call will have this on them for the week and will be the
primary contact.
There is a secondary contact who has their own Blackberry as well.
Question: is there a way to configure BB so that if the first page is
not responded, it will page another account?
For example, if our DHCP server goes down on Saturday night at midnight
and the primary contact doesn't acknowledge the problem within the hour,
can BB then page the secondary contact?
