Re: {bb} Modem Not Answering?

Ok, I didn't provide enough information. We're an electric utility
and people call us when the power is out or they have a question about
their bill. Earlier this week, our local inbound phone numbers died
-- generic all circuits busy message. The problem went undetected for
several hours.

Obviously, this inconvenienced our customers and caused an uproar.
The solution put in place is for our electric operations center to
manually calls the various phone numbers every hour. The center is
staffed 24x7. The telecom group apparently doesn't have a better or
automatic way.

Being manual and that the center has to work with field crews, manage
power outages, etc, it could be lost in the shuffle. So, their
manager asked whether BB could do the monitoring. They know about BB
since it sends alarms to them for our computer room HVAC and whole
building UPS.

I found nothing on deadcat. I found this thread after a quick search
on gmane. I was hoping a brother had a modem check script and I could
modify it to suit my needs versus building from scratch.

So, that is the full story. If anyone knows of a better way, I'm all ears.
