Re: {bb} Another question please

Hi,

That really helped,
I got was able to remove the pop3 check and enable the DNS and FTP checks for the other clients.
Now the problem is that the FTP checks for the other cients are showing red. and i have confirned that ftp service is runing on that client.

I did a "ps -ef|grep ftp" on the client and it shows me
nobody  84966 163126   0 13:33:43  pts/0  0:00 /usr/sbin/tftpd
root 163126      1   0 13:33:43  pts/0  0:00 /usr/sbin/tftpd

But still for this client the ftp is showing red.

Please advice.

This will not show unless you are (or have in the past) tested for it.
Make sure that the "pop3" directive is removed from your bb-hosts
files and that any status file that ends in ".pop3" is removed from
the bbvar/logs directory (also hist and histlogs if you want to be
thorough).

The DNS check tests that the specified host can resolve it's own
name, but this status is purple. That translates to "This used to
be tested and has not been updated recently". If you intended to
stop testing this, you should use the "bbrm" utility to tidy up
the status files (or use the manual method above). If the directive
is still in the bb-hosts file, you will need to try and work out
why the test stopped. The BBOUT file is the first place to look.

The "ftp" test (and those like it) are basic "open port" checks. They
look to see if the relevant port is open, but don't test for complex
functionality (which would take too long for most peoples needs).

For those tests that are empty (or purple) that you want to test,
add the ftp directive to the line for that host in the bb-hosts
file. For the ones showing purple that you don't want to test,
remove the stale status files.

Cheers, Phil.
