The safe bet is to put the full command and options in the FPING setting.
FPING="/usr/local/sbin/fping -r3"
fping does send multiple ping's. You really don't need to mess with these
options unless you have a very specific need to do so (like testing
connectivity over a satellite link with very high latency).
