To check for overload :
Check for system ressources (memory, cpu #of processes, etc).
If you suspect bbd, try to disable some external script and see if it runs better.

no, just put the xxx there. Could be the overloaded bb server. What, in your opinion, is the best way to determine if your bb server is overloaded?
