Re: {bb} Paging levels

Has anyone done anything to allow a page/email on any change of status?
Currently you can set paging when you go from green to any other color or
from any color back to green.
Do any of you brothers see this as a useful feature? An example: Long
weekend I get a yellow page that says a file system has crossed a threshold.
OK, I know I have some time to get to a PC and fix it before I get into
trouble. A little later this file system (or another) crosses the threshold
to where it could bring the system down. I would like to get a page at this
time too, but since I already received a page BB won't page again.
Not sure I'm following but...
Big Brother allows you to specify what status colors generate pages.
Simply put them in the pagelevels setting, like 'red yellow purple' and
you'll get paged on those colors.
Another thing to note, Big Brother will send pages forever as long as the
status messages that come in are of a color defined in the pagelevels
colors (unless you acknowledge the alert or disable alerting.) If both red
and yellow are defined in pagelevels, Big Brother will continue to send
pages regardless of how many times the test bounces between red and
yellow. One thing that affects this is the page delay on the paging rule
(remember, the default page delay is 15 minutes.)
If you have both red and yellow defined in pagelevels, what you may be
seeing is this situation:
1st status comes in with yellow - BB sends 1st page
2nd status comes in 5 minutes later with red - BB doesn't send page
because the page delay has not expired yet
In this case, you could either set your default page delay to 5 minutes to
cover all tests on all hosts performed or override the default page delay
for specific hosts/tests in the specific rules (:5 syntax).
Or maybe I'm not fully understanding what it is you're suggesting. That is
certainly possible....I've only had 1 cup of coffee today. :-)
