The bb-msgs.sh script is in the bbc/bin directory, so you'll have to set up a bb client.
Another idea, if you don't have a big brother server, or if you wish to be warned immediately when receiving traps, you can pick a look at "swatch". This is a perl script that runs a "tail -f" on a log file and can send emails when detecting some patterns.
swatch.sourceforge.net
You should only have a bb client on your bb server if the snmptrapd runs on your bb server.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am assuming that I need the bb client installed on my BB host server?

Hi,
You can set an snmptrapd daemon (like net-snmp) and log all traps to a file.
Then you can use bigbrother to parse the file as a log file and generate alerts.

Hello fellow brothers,
Can anyone tell me how to receive SNMP traps from a Cisco product and send an alert based on the trap received? Our networking folks are wanting to send SNMP Traps to BB when any of their ports gets shut down and then have BB send an alert. The Cisco products are Catalyst 4006 and 4506. Can this be done or can it be done another way, if so can anyone help with this. Thanks everyone in advance
Vince
