{bb} Services showing red when they're up

I've inherited some admin duties due to our sysadmin leaving and am having a
few servers show up red for items such as telnet and ftp when those services
are available.  These servers have been reporting green correctly for a
couple of years when they've been available so I'm not sure where things
have gone awry.

I read that it could possibly be reverse dns lookup timeouts, so I added the
entry for our main big brother reporting server into the /etc/hosts file and
this seems to have solved the problem for telnet, however ftp still shows up
as red.  This box is old, Mandrake 7 and running wu-ftpd via inetd.
Previously we had no problems with ftp.  Any ideas where I can look to
diagnose this?

Would I be able to find anything in the BBOUT file or are there any other
files I can run?

I tried running bbnet (on the server that's reporting incorrectly and on the
main big brother reporting server) and it only seems to test for telnet, is
this correct?
