Aha. Apparently ./bbrm didn't actually delete the .trends from
bbvar/logs/. Thanks!

Do an "ls -lt" on the bbvar/logs/ directory. Any file with a timestamp
of current time or earlier is purple.
Or - slightly less hackish - run bbgen with the "--purplelog=FILENAME"
option, and it will let you know what it thinks is purple.
