Not as far as I know. The only reports on the list, about such problems,
have been specific to Red Hat 9. SuSE 9.x are more recent distributions
than RH9. According to my (admittedly unreliable) memory, the thing
that caused the problem was NPTL (Native Posix Threading Library).
Using a kernel (and libc probably) without NPTL support should make
the problem go away.

I think that there was also a boot-time kernel option to turn this
off, but I don't know if that was sufficient to stop the leak.
