If you want to write status messages to syslog, you could use a
custom paging script to format the information that you require
and end it to the "logger" utility (if available). It looks like
an odd thing to do, though, so it might be helpful to let the
list know why you want to do this. There might well be other
techniques that will give better results.

If, on the other hand, you want to redirect the output that is
normally sent to the BBOUT file, you can modify the runbb.sh
file to do that. Currently, there are also a couple of lines
in the etc/bbinc.sh file that write to BBOUT and you may 
want to change.
