No such implication was intended :) I was only expressing my humble
(and possibly erroneous) opinion that, where the BB client is used
on a machine with NFS mounts, the "df" command should usually be
modified so that it only lists the local disks.
As to why this is often not the default setting, I suspect a
combination of the following:
1. BB is most often used for "server" class machines, which
are more likely to export disk space rather then mount
remote disks. "Desktop" machines are more often monitored
via the (l)users (though constant "attitude re-adjustment"
may be required to avoid false positives).
2. The "df" command (much like Heinz canned goods) actually
comes in more than 57 varieties. Keeping up with which
flag is needed on what OS and version would rapidly turn
into a nightmare.
Interestingly, the HP-UX equivalent (bdf) is provided with
the "-l" (local) flag by default. That's probably a good
description of HP. They are weird, but at least they're
consistently weird :)
