Because there is a firewall involved, it would be helpful to know
a little more about your set-up. Specifically, the location of
each of the BBDISPLAY, BBPAGER and BBNET machines (internal
or DMZ) and which test you are investigating with.
Internally, BB uses port 1984 (by default) for communication.
The BBNET machines and any clients need to be able to contact
your BBDISPLAY and BBPAGER machines using this port.
As a result, if you are using a client side test to investigate
this and your BBDISPLAY and BBPAGER are different machines on
the internal network, it could be that your firewall is allowing
access to the BBDISPLAY but not to the BBPAGER. If, on the other
hand, you have a separate BBNET and BBPAGER in your DMZ, it
might be that this BBPAGER is unable to contact your mail
server. A useful source of information here can be the file
BBVAR/acks/notifications.log. It will indicate whether or not
the BBPAGER is actually attempting to send the alerts.
Cheers, Phil.
